The Eastern Regional Association has launched a new pastor-care ministry known as Pastor-At-Large. This new ministry is based on the concept that the pastor of a local church is a critical element in the health and vitality of the local church. Many times a pastor struggles with the demands of his ministry and becomes discouraged by the lack of care he receives.
The Apostle Paul writing to the church at Thessalonica talked about
the trials that come to Gods servants and sent Timothy to them to encourage and
strengthen them. 1 Thess. 3:2
That is the primary mission of the Pastor-At-Large, to come alongside of Gods chosen servants as a listening ear, to counsel, to strengthen and encourage them in their work for Him.
This ministry will be conducted on a part time basis by two men who have distinguished themselves over the years and gained the respect of their peers. They are both men of God with a pastors heart.
Bryce Whiting will work in the northern
district of the Region including Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Bryce graduated from Berkshire Christian College
in 1976 and holds a Masters degree from Wheaton Graduate School in Intercultural Studies. In addition to serving in the pastorate, Bryce has
served as a missionary with YWAM in Togo, W. Africa.
He is a certified consultant with National Church Development and also serves as
the Director of Church Health for the Maranatha Conference.
George Karl who will work the southern
district of the Region (Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut) is also a 1976 graduate
of Berkshire Christian College. He holds a
M.Div. from Columbia International University and has done doctoral work at Gordon Conwell
Theological Seminary. In addition to several
pastorates, George currently serves as Assistant to the President and Director of
Admissions at Berkshire Institute for
Christian Studies. He is also President of
the New Life Conference.
Both of these men understand and care deeply about pastoral ministry and will be a blessing to Gods chosen servants as they engage in this important ministry. Please embrace them and hold them in your prayers.
